Front triple-tree style fork swaps

Post by shane_lxi »

I'm gathering pieces to make a cafe style pit bike for running around the track on, and I'm thinking of using the front headtube and frame from a spree parts bike I have left over. I had a question though for some of you smarties. I'm looking for some front triple-tree style forks that might possible swap over. I'm looking at maybe an xr50 front end or a z50 front end. I know I'll likely have to shorten or lengthen the steering stem, but obviously it needs to be the proper diameter for the bearings. Anyway, any advice is helpful! Thanks!

I should add I am not concerned about clearing the plastics or any of that as I will only be using the headtube and lower frame tube.

The dirt bike forks are a bit long. You can use any triple tree from any disc brake scooter 50cc-150cc. Cut the stem out of the spree fork and weld that into the triple your going to use. You might have to lower the ride height by cutting the spring some. If your trying to make a custom show style. Use the rrgs or blox drop shocks for the ruckus and use a jdm dio triple or sym triple

The kymco zx50 tripple works also. I have one for sale that is bent but if your cutting and welding it won't matter. 30$ + shipping.

Do you know if the stock ruckus front wheel can work with the zx50 front end? Thanks for the offer, btw, but I think I'll hold off for a straight fork stem

Nope! Ruckus rim is 3in wide plus its drum front. Zx50 is disc unless you find the adapter for disc brake legs to drum brske. Check battle scooter or ask on totalruckus

What about stock ruckus forks? I was under the impression that the lower part of the swapped steering stem (for the lower bearing) should be retained and the upper section could be welded/plugged with the upper section of the oem steering stem. Seems a bit sketchy to weld the whole spree stem to the lower clamp of something else. Anyone know of a site where bearing sizes can be cross referenced for scoots? Sounds like I need a lower bearing with the same outer diameter as the spree and the same inner diameter as the ruckus to swap it, unless of course they already match. The only site I know of is bikebandit, and they don't do scoots.
