Greetings:

Exasperating isn't it?
The 16 engine crank uses a 17mm socket on the variator nut. The 05 engine comes off with a 14mm. You don't have to do Maff or calculate the pi value of a circle converted from inches to mm. The pic of the exhaust isn't perfect, but that's an 05 based on that alone.

Depending on what bore kit you have, yes, it is capable of 60. Swapping in the af16 that it started with will make 60 easier. You have a much larger selection of parts. Larger displacement options.

The dio variators will fit the af05. You have to reuse the af05 pulley boss so the variator must be able to use the stock dio boss.

Keli (ebay), malossi (RedEFT), polini (ebay and various dealers), oko (VT Cycles), and a ruckus variator (WTB ad on the board, buying from ruckus guys that swapped them out) are all common options. Dont get a ruckus acceleration variator like the KN or similar. If you go ruckus, go OEM or a "speed" variator.

All except for the ruckus variators, those may require a little grinding. Usually 5 minutes or less with a Dremel will be enough for adequate clearance.

Basically, the crank shaft diameter is larger on the af16, that is why af05 engines must retain their stock boss. The ramp plate hole will also be bigger on the af16 but the slides will keep it centered. The OD of the af05 and af16 is the same.

The metal tube that centers the pulley on the crankshaft. It is roughly 1.5" long.

So its not what the belt rides in,on correct...it goes on the inside of the pulley and that's on the back in the variater
