Yeah I know that I was using it more or less as a guideline to work from. What exactly do you mean by 4 cycle? will it just sound like a 4T? Yes it has a removable pilot jet , and I jetted it up so it would idle correct. should I have done that after the main?

Yeah kind of sounds like a 4cycle motor. it will load up too a lot after 1/2 throttle if the main is to big. You can set the pilot first. There is a over lap right before 1/2 throttle pilot to main jet

The crossover from pilot to main actually helps alot to know thanks. It picks up beat at right around 1/2 throttle must be a little lean still. Ill mess with it later and report back hopefully ill be back to trusting it to make it across town soon (:

Took a few videos and pics here they are.
It's still a little lean up top, but it does this wierd bog thing when it idles for about 45 seconds or when I first start it and it runs REALLY rich, but it seems to idle perfect if I just let it idle I get a great chop?

2Stroke plug read is at the base of the porcelain. Its more a wot plug chop is what you want to do. That way you can get the main jet dialed in. If the needle clip is at the top of the needle, somewhere is way to rich. Either pilot jet to big or air fuel screw is screwed in to far. Base starting point for your carb should be at 1 3/4 turns out ig its runs better more than 1/2 turn closed , up the pilot.if it's more than 1/2 open from starting point , pilot to big. Needle setting should be in the middle. If your in between pilot jets and carb is not crisp , then adjust the needle

yeah I'm gonna drop a pilot size and go up 1-2 main sizes tomorrow seems like it should work out pretty good. Will it being lean up top cause my high idle for about 30 seconds until the cumbustion chamber cools from idling rich? Thats where I'm a little confused since it idles high (lean) after a wot run for 30-45 seconds before returning to regular idle I'm getting close on my main being the same size as the tube running into the carb itself gonna check AGAIN for some sort of air leak tomorrow as well /: The base of the ceramic seems the same color as the tip of the plug every time I check it I took the pics trying to show the base but my cell doesnt want to focus on the plug very easily more of whatever is behind it lol

If the idle stays up like that, that right there is a classic sign of air leak and it can be from anywhere

It only stays up for a little bit though, and it only does it SOMETIMES its like I have an occasional leak which is gonna be REALLY hard to find. It'll idle all day long just sitting there in the driveway and the idle will be crisp and constant, but as soon as I go to take off it smokes like crazy for a bit and does the chugging it does in the first video. Could it be my exhaust flange leaking? like it gets hot the flange/gasket expand allowing air past, it cools off and drops back down? ugghhhhhh gremlins in the system!!!! lol

It can be from anywhere. You just have to track it down. It my not show signs of leak because it might be from sucking air in. So it won't leave oil marks or it might depending where the leak is

well almost all of the askets/seals are brand new, and I do have a little leakage showing on my exhaust gasket can that cause it or no? I'll check all my seals etc tomorrow still but if I cant find any others can the exhaust cause this?

well pretty embarrassed to say that the air leak was right in front of my face the whole time... the fitting on the carb for the stock petcock valve was never capped off *facepalm* I must have had the carb right in front of my face 10000000937474947 times and I never noticed it. Oh well now I started from my old main and am working my way up its running ALOT better revs higher but still sputtering lean gonna go up 1-2 sizes tomorrow and hopefully itll be good

still a no go it runs good up top still a tad lean, but I wont be revvng it that high often maybe 1 more size up. runs awesome at idle and up to 3/4 throttle. I now have a problem with take off... If I WOT from a idle it goes 1-2 mph then almost dies just bogs like crazy and goes rich starts smoking and "4 stroking" if I go 1/2-3/4 throttle up until the cvt cycles and the rpms start to raise then wot its good... I'm at a stand still with this thing I need the takeoff around town and I'm just drawing a blank... about to say screw this thing and sell off the engine setup as is and pick up a 4 stroke unless theres something I'm not understading. my air screw is at 1-3/4 out it idles perfectly I had to drop my pin to the top clip to get it to take off from 1/2-3/4 throttle and wot is unusable. There HAS to be something wrong with this carb, but taking it apart and inspecting 1000 times changing jets clips adjusting etc. I havent noticed anything. Changed the plug AGAIN new coil tried a different CDI. I'm at a loss can my reeds be bad? And I don't see it until they get hot or something???

YAYYYYY!!! finally found my intermittent leak it was the variator side crank seal, I replaced it tested for leaks then reassembled. Started re-jetting it runs WAAAYYYYYY smoother and returns to idle every time I stop with no problems. I'm still have the same issue up top though, I've jetted up to the point that my plug comes out pretty much black it pulls fine through most of the rpm at the jetting I'm at and I get a decent chop, but up top it still has a real loud "clack" noise coming from the carb, doesnt sound like spark knock and I'm running premium 93 oct with 155psi compression so it shouldn't be knocking. I'v jetted and whether its lean or rich it makes the same noise at the same speed every time, I've pulled the cyl apart and no contact anywhere, replaced the reeds and made no diference. /: any ideas? I would record it, but it would just sound like a bunch of noise unable to hear the clacking above the rest of the noise...
