Ignition Question
Does anyone know if the plug fires once per revolution, twice per revolution, or every other revolution? I have a digital tach from ENM Co. and to set it up properly I need to tell it how often it fires per rev. It is a cool little tach. It is digital and it reads RPMs, records hours, and you can set a maintenance interval where it displays the word SERVICE at an hour interval of your choice. I also want to get a cylinder head temp gauge too.
2-stroke, one fire per rev.

Stock top at 8K, no reason it couldn't run to 14K

And the thread is revived...noiseguy wrote:Stock top at 8K, no reason it couldn't run to 14K
Ok, the redline is 8k for a stock setup? How horrible is it to hold 8k on a stock scooter?
Noiseguy, you say there is no reason it couldn't run to 14k - is that theoretical? With enough oil mix and large enough carb?
I have yet to pass 9k according to my tach, but i came close. Has anyone had trouble with 9+k?

Re: Ignition Question
There are kart engines hitting rpms above 14k -- for a few hours. Hopefully some racer out there has knowledge of the Honda engines, and where the limits & weak points are at high rpm. As well if its just too peaky to be reasonable.

RPM and Torque/HP Curve
Greetings:
My cheap Standard-version TinyTach tops at 9999 RPM. On the only high-speed run when my eyes weren't watering so much that I couldn't see the tach, the reading was "130". I presume this meant 10,130. This was with the PG long and a honkin'-big carb. I have read credible posts from acknowledged racers who indicate the AF16 can rev on up to about 12K with the right accoutrements. Stock anything on the intake or exhaust side will keep best power well below 10K, methinks.
