I hate to quote myself but in this case it is neccessary. My Spree seemed to be running nice then all of a sudden it crapped out on me as I slowed down coming to a stop. It would not start so I rolled it for 50 feet towards home. I tried to start it again and managed to get it to start and now this is how it runs. Suddenly hard to start and keep running. I think the bystarter is working fine as the bike starts up when very cold. Guess it is back to cleaning the carburetor. Maybe some crud got in the idle jet. The only thing is it runs crappy at speed as well.

Glad and embarrassed to say I found my problem with the Spree. It was out of gas. I forgot after the last carb cleaning I had drained the tank and had only refilled it with a little gas. Opps! Anyway my gas gauge is stuck on full so that is my lame excuse. :)

It happens to the best best of bro... At least you diddnt bump the red kill switch on the bar and spend two hours wondering why it won't go. Guess who did that ;-) yours truly lol

Okay, I got some advice for you to try and get your fuel gauge working again. First thing to check is the float in the fuel tank. Make sure it's not stuck and make sure there isn't a hole in the float. Check the wiring connections, and I think there's even something in the service manual about checking the ohms on the sensor. Last to check is the actual needle. If you remove the speedometer plastics, the speedo cover should pop off and you can see if the needle is seized in place.

Black 85 Spree-SOLD

Red 87 Spree... Ended up buying the same one mentioned below.

I started riding my uncle's 87 Spree at the drag strip when I was 8...

It's easier to stop caring three years ago than it is to fix it in present time.
