a photo is a prow way telling if you lean.... if the plug is the color of a candy bar your not lead at that rpm..

Okay, thank you.
I just took it to 3 stores and it ran good with the metering rod at the richest
Position via circlip placement. I have a few more things to do, then I will
be able to carry the spark plug socket in my pocket today and pull
The plug af :coolcruise: ter a wot ride.

Needle in the richest position indicates a lean condition. Sense a theme here on this thread. ;-) As far as I can tell you can have air leaking from a few possible places: carb isolator, vacuum side of petcock, crank seals, airbox. Take a rag and put it over your painted side cover to protect it and with the scooter idling lightly spray the carb connections at the isolator and air hose and air box lid and around the screw that holds the lid down. If you you spray a point and the idle drops you have a leak. Make sure you actually do a plug chop proper and not just pull the plug after a wot run and try to read the plug. Especially if its a plug you have used for a while and have already had it out and looked at it. That will tell you nothing. If you put in a new plug and rode it for an afternoon and took it out and its solid white, that would tell you something. A plug chop with a new plug is the way to get the info you need. In my opinion you should put the clip back in the middle position and find the issue that's truly causing the lean condition. The needle will not help you when off throttle and you could still burn it up.

Have you confirmed the main jet size yet, what if its a 65 not 68.

Busy day today, busier than I thought.
repaired my friends power window, no parts available, so I had to make
A part. Anyway, we all know I got 6 spark plugs, so I can do good
Chops tomorrow.
Gonna do that spray trick to see if it affects rpms to help find the vaccuum
leak. Yeah, I agree with you regarding moving needle to normal and
finding the reason for the lean condition, as I posted a few posts ago...
tomorrow is the day.
