1993 honda elite sr 50 with Malossi BBK and top speed issues

I have a 1993 sr50 with the af05e motor and installed the malossi BBK, I have excellent low end power but top end is running about the same as BBK was installed, 40 mph. I have changed roller weights from 10 grams to 7.5 before the BBk and thats prolly why low in is so good but where do I get my top end from the BBK?

with a wider belt , aftermarket gear set , taller rear tyre or more rpm from a performance exhaust (not home made unless you actually know what you are doing unlike some)

already have the taller rear tire 90/90x10

You need a gear ratio upgrade. Get some 9to1's and you will fly.

are you running a aftermarket variator?

STILL RUNNING STOCK GEARS AND JUST GOT A KELLI VARIATOR FOR IT

you should see another 3-5mph more with that variator.

also need a new ramp plate, 25 degrees or so. vt cycles sells sef ramp plate for $15+shipping.

okay thanks and I did contact daywot as to why no steeper ramp plate and he said kelli variator basically didn't need one that you can just use your stock ramp plate and it will increase speed like that, is that true?

yes. if you have a us2 stamped in the ramp plate. that will work good.

okay and if it does not have the us2 stamped in my current stock ramp plate then I should upgrade?

Mine has us72 stamped in it, so guessing thats what you meant
