50mm w/ mini stroke vs Malossi BBK

Post by bfowler »

Well I'm stuck trying to figure out what route I want to go with my build. Currently have a stock derestricted 00' elite. This will be a daily driven scooter in San Francisco (lots of hills). Should I go with a malossi bbk from Red or should I order the 50mm kit from vt cycles and add a mini stroke? I want to have power and reliability.

malossi mhr if you going malossi. since SF is hilly with steep hills,no smaller than 9to1.with a pg long you can still see around 60-64mph topspeed
Nothing like getting stroked!

Haha might do a full stroke build if I buy a dio back home in Hawaii.

So you wouldn't recommend the 50mm? If I go malossi I was thinking about keeping stock airbox, carb, and exhaust. Not really sure though. Need more inputs I guess.

if you go that route then keep the stock unrestricted exhaust on.if not the stock carb wont keep up with the flow.that route will still net about 55-59mph.if running the stock carb/airbox on a 50mm bore with mini stroke crank, the stock 14mm carb is a bit to small.will need to up to a 18mm carb.

Go with the mini stroker 50 if you plan on porting and rebuilding the block. Otherwise just slap on the malossi and go. Taiwain quality is subpar compared to italian so be prepared for it to last half as long
