Re: removing belt
You need to down load the manual it will help tons. The drive pulley but has to come off as well as the driven pulley nut (clutch). Make sure the driven pulley halves can move apart with the spring properly. That's what keeps the tension on the belt and if they don't split apart the right way the belt will ride too high on the driven pulley and rub against the case. Or worst case you wont be able to install the belt until the driven pulley gets serviced

Re: removing belt
Greetings:
There is a "cheater" way. Lock the rear brake. Loosen and remove the clutch nut - sometimes it needs some persuasion and the "correct"w ay is indeed to use some sort of immobilizer. Next, squeeze the driven pulley all the way apart and pull the belt toward center. I'm not sure on the Spree, but on the Elite it's possible to slip the rear pulley-clutch assembly off the shaft, then remove the belt without touching the front pulley at all. Your mileage may vary... and shortcuts are seldom ideal.
