87 Spree stuck open throttle

Post by Spreeberg »

I have an 87 Spree in amazing condition. It was in storage for 25 years . It had 1 problem though . The throttle slide isn't going down all the way into the carb. I know its supposed to drop easily but its not . It is lined up perfect with the notch but when u look through opening on filter side you can see about 1/8 inch of it.. I wanted to see if there were any ideas before buying a new carb and slide .... Thank you in advance for any advice

You probably don't have the slide installed correctly. The long slot faces the engine and the one on the other side adjusts your idle speed. I would remove the cable nut on top of the carb and inspect it for proper fit. You will feel it when it goes in correct.

I have put it in and take. It out more than 20 times . When its not in right it stops much shorter. I have it lined up perfect . I believe from reading other posts the little notch in the carb might be damaged so its stopping it from sliding down . I don't think it's fixable
