Honda Spree Piston Part Number
Does anybody know if the piston for an 1986 Iowa Spree and 1985 Spree is 13102-GS6-670. I bought two from a guy off of here a while ago and am just getting around to replacing them. However, when I go to look up the part number for the piston for those years, it gives me a different part number. Does anybody know if these will work?

Re: Honda Spree Piston Part Number
Ok I'm answering my own questions, so the part number 13102-GS6-670 is updated to 13101-GS6-505 and its for the 86 NQ50A. My next question is, will this work for a 1985 Honda Spree with a 1985 Spree with it's original cylinder and also for a 1986 Iowa Spree?

1984-85 Sprees had a slightly different piston and head. The original piston was 'dished'. The part you reference has a 'domed' head.
Folks have been swapping in the domed piston as a minor performance mod- dished pistons have been un-available for a few years.

Ya I found that out by the way my piston looked when I took it out of my 85 Spree and compared it to the one I have now. Can I still use the piston ring set from the 85 piston and the same cylinder as well?mousewheels wrote:1984-85 Sprees had a slightly different piston and head. The original piston was 'dished'. There is a different part number for the 86 and up rings, I'd go with rings matching the piston.

I ended up breaking a ring when trying to put it on the cylinder anyway lol so I'll just replace them.mousewheels wrote:There is a different part number for the 86 and up rings, I'd go with rings matching the piston.
Anyone know how to hone the cylinder on these? I know you need a 41mm flex hone correct? I was reading a few threads on hear but it didn't look like anyone had a good tutorial on the sprees cylinder specifically.
My question is what exactly is a cross hatch? And how does it come into play when honing the cylinder?

Sprees do not need specific instructions.

Honing marks in the cyl are cross-hatched by a simultaneous up-down motion while the hone is spinning. Here is a link which discusses cross hatch. It's for a four cycle, so the part about excessive oil consumption is not valid. Link - click me
