motor swap posibilities???

I have 89 elite and was wondering what engine swap options other than the dio motor there are out there, I only want to reach about 45-50 mph if possible. Any input would be much appreciated!!

so you have a af05e and you want something faster but dont want a af16/af18 or a clone.

nothing will get you there for 50cc's

if you can weld and fabricate anything can fit, so what ever is cheap is a good option ( again, only if you can weld)

have you considered a big bore kit and new intake for your old engine?

Yea but for the price of those, I wanted to try to find something with a variator

your scooter now doesnt have a variator? something smells fishy. go out to your bike and read the engine code ( its on the clutch cover side, right above the wheel, engraved in the engine case itself)

sounds like you have the elite thats not really an elite but a modern spree.

if thats the case the af05e engine would be an upgrade. they are for sale all the time and go for about 200-250 shipped

The Elite E (SB50) was in production in '89 and has what is essentially a spree motor.

If you don't want to swap a AF16 onto it because of costs you should be able to scoop up a variated af05 for less (although the prices I've seen on the forum lately seem to say otherwise). Getting to 50mph with this would be tricky, but 45mph is very doable.

af05e's are one of those things where if you want it you will pay $$$$$ but if you dont care to much about it, then someone will give you one for free.

buy a af05e they are in 85-87 aero 50s 87-93 elites50's

i might have one for cheaper if you really can't find one. i live in oregon however so thats a long trip for a square box.

once you spend $$$$$ on upgrading the af05e.... you might find that it was cheaper to just wait patiently for a af16e(dio) motor.
ive never had a af16 but im waiting patiently to get one.

once you feel the sting of buying a leovince, and then read how dio's hit 50 with only gear mods. you learn to live with waiting

if you cant wait and you find a af05e, $185 redeft bbk shipped and a leovince pipe 100-200 shipped should have you where you want to be.

if you have $400 to spend and let people know it, i think you might get a few pms with dio motors.

or.... 200 for a af05e +185 for the bbk then +150........ on a good day you have now spent over 500.... to be slower than the motor that everyone wants and sometimes goes for 250


now that i have said this alot of pro spree people might hop in and tell me im gross and to read that name of this website...... but i wish someone had told me what i told you last year.
