I just got one
Hello,
I just got a 1984 spree. The first time , i had trouble turning it on but i managed in the end. I drove it to the gas station and filled it with ordinary. Since then, all i get when i try to turn it on it a cracking noise followed by a little buzz. After i try a couple times, nothing happens at all. The tail light stays on though when the keys are in... I have no knowledge about motors or scooters and the scooter jargon really does not help either... petcock, blah blah.. Someone told me that i may have flouded the spark or something like that but im not sure what to do.. Can someone kindly take it from the top and talk to me like im an idiot? that would be great...
Thanks

if all you hear is the starter motor turning and not it turning the engine over, then the gear is not catching. Keep trying, let the starter motor stop before each try. If no luck, consult people here on forums, they will be glad to help. Also one of the first things you wanna do after getting a spree and joining this forum, is download the manual (tech documents).
Congrats on being another addition to the proud owners of sprees/elites/aeros.

Ok
Thanks for the quick reply...
I have tried many times already but it never works... Maybe im just bad at starting it but i doubt it because I started it a few times with no problems. Here is a detailed description of what I do. Maybe someone can catch an error.
1) Put the key in, and turn. The switch it on "ON"
2) Hold the left brake.
3) Put on a bit of gas (twist the handle a bit) and press the start button.
4) I tried with various degrees of gas from none to max...
I just get a cracking noise and a buzz...
Should I just take it to a garage? Does anyone know any in downtown montreal? I think i need something close because ill be pushing it the whole way...

Also, how do i clean the carb and what does it look like?

chargers you may be able to pick up at a local car store(murrays or autozone etc.) idk what you have in canada. Batteries you may be able to pick up at a honda dealer or at a local car store. the carb is what your gas lines connect to. read tech docs about cleaning it.
honda spree 86 nq50, 89 camaro, 90 jeep wrangler, TR6.
