Spree performance exhaust

Post by lemo97 »

I am looking to upgrade the exhaust on me 85 spree. it is completely stock right now. Would a pipe for a dio engine bolt up? I was also thinking of fabbing up a kawasaki kx60 2 stroke dirt bike exhaust to fit. on ebay you can find the kx60 pipe and silencer for less than $100. Any ideas?

Unfortunately dio pipes to not bolt up, so your options are to fab one up yourself or to buy one of these:

Congrats.
Consider keeping your oem exhaust tucked away if you ever decide to sell the scoot.
(you'll probably be ahead by selling the scoot with the original exhaust and your used performance pipe here...)
Just a thought.. congrats

You'll love that MLM pipe, it gives the spree that hill climbing power :-) I love mine, it will actually gain speed uphill as before the pipe it would just keep a steady speed. It will make you giggle on the first run I guarantee :-)

Nice, can't wait. Looking to buy the carb kit from Taz too and am waiting for it to be for sale again.

Looking to crank some real power out of this thing! :)

Its fun to seen what you can do with the spree eh? Porting the the intake and some intake porting on the cylinder helps to wake it up :-)

Don't worry, just go to an auto parts place like Napa and get a helicoil kit for the size of bolt that fits, 6mm I think. Just take a bolt with you to match the proper pitch. The head bolts only take 8 or 9 foot pounds ;-) I always clean the the threads and oil them. The helicoil kit should have the right size drill bit, tap and a couple helicoils. You can fix it :-)

Great thanks :)

Just pulled the head and realized I snapped the bolt. What's left of it is still in the hole? Still an easy fix?

Could be if its not too rusted in there. Buy some PB blaster penetrating oil if you don't already have some spray it and let it soak for a while. How much of the stud is protruding, can you grab it with vise grips? If there is any sticking up heat it with a torch and spray a little pb blaster on it, do that a few times. A small lunch and a hammer to tap the busted piece counter clockwise might get it out if its flush. I reverse drill bit or even a small flat head bit a drill in reverse with lots of pressure might pull it out, go slow. An easy out tool might work too.
