Spree hard starting and going slow
My spree starts very hard when it is cold, like so hard I have to spray a little starting fluid in it to get it to go. Also, I can only get it up to about 25mph and it is not an iowa. I must have cleaned the carb 5 times in the last week. This one has me stumped...
Re: Spree hard starting and going slow
Do you have a compression tester?...

Re: Spree hard starting and going slow
I just finished testing the compression. I read somewhere that to check compression on the spree you are only supposed to turn it over 3 times. I did that and got 60psi. Then, I just kept turning it over until the needle stopped moving that resulted in a reading of about 110 psi. Which is right?
Re: Spree hard starting and going slow
That's good. If you do it WOT it would probably read a little highger which is perfect. You should be fine on compression.
Have you cleaned and re-oiled the air filter?
A likely suspect is the exhaust. If you really want to go fast, buy a MLM exhaust from Devin. He is a nice guy and will sell you one for $180 Shipped to the lower 48. I just got mine!
If you don't want to do that, then I would take it off and clean it.

Re: Spree hard starting and going slow
The air filter is brand spankin new as of about 4 days ago so that shouldnt be it. Ill check the exhaust and hope that fixes the problem!
Re: Spree hard starting and going slow
And as for the MLM pipe, I dont really want to spend that much on the spree right now, but I see myself eventually owning one lol

Is the air filter properly oiled and wrung out and dried?

You'll see improvement once you clean the exhaust. I wouldn't be surprised if you broke 30 mph
Re: Spree hard starting and going slow
The air filter came oiled from the factory so all I did was put it in. It was an oem filter. And something came up tonight so tomorrow I will start a fire and toss the muffler in and see what happens

Alright, cool.

Re: Spree hard starting and going slow
sorry I have been very busy for the past few days with work and such. But anyways, I started a good fire and tossed the muffler in it. After i put it back on. It seems to do the same thing. No matter what i do it always seems to be out of adjustment. Can never get it to idle right. bottom end is noticably better, but there still is hardly any top end power.
