Honda Elite, Gets Spark, Doesnt Run

Post by Dylan2001Elite »

Hey guys, last year, I got this Honda Elite 50, got it running, ran good, now this year it wont start, and it is getting spark. Yesterday I pulled the top of the motor off to look under it (I'm 15 and love motors and seeing what they consist of) well the piston looked a little dry? But not a whole lot of anything to see in there :( . Anyways, all I had to do last year to get it running was to clean the carb out and now I have done that this year, but it still doesn't run.

If any information is also needed, just ask, I really want it running! :coolcruise:

I put my thumb on the spark plug hole, and it "popped" my thumb off the whole, and the plug is usually wet when I pull it, so I might try to get it dry, put a little oil and gas in the hole replace the spark plug. I will do it now!

you don't need a lot of compression to blow your thumb of the hole trust me.
get yourself the proper compression tester, theyre cheap enough and youll use it more than once.
if its above 110 its ok and will run ok.
check you have fuel getting through.
make sure you have spark. remove spark plug and hold it against the frame or cylinder head, press start button/push kick start as usual, if you cant see a spark then theres no spark, change the plug and go from there.
if you have spark and good compression, clean the carb again, it can take a few cleans to get it right.
decoke your exhaust, my 92 elite wouldn't run at one point simply because the exhaust was clogged up.

do the above and post back
