I am thoroughly frustrated.
My 1985 Aero starts up, but when I give it throttle it slowly takes off then stays up in the high revs and won't come down unless I turn it off.
Ruled out the throttle cable already by borrowing one from a friends that worked and it still had the same problem.
After I thought my scoot was running lean, it turned out the gas air mixture was fine.
However, my carbs holes for mounting to the intake were so stripped I thought it was causing an air leak.
After ordering a new carb off of ebay, I found that it too had stripped out.
I chem dipped both of them, made sure they were extremely clean, then found some jam nuts to make sure they were on tight enough to the intake, BUT STILL, the same problem persists!
I tried both carbs, but used the guts of the one that was in better condition.
Do I need a carb rebuild kit?
WHAT IS THIS SORCERY?
I swear to god, whoever helps me figure out what this is can have my extra spree starter and oil pump.
BTW- this is a picture of the bike, actually a kinda cool art project my friend and I worked on.
It's entitled "Lines and Shapes"

Here are pictures of the carb on the bike, I got fed up and decided to blow off some steam by polishing it.

Re: 85' Aero Running Away issue- after 2 chem dipped carbs
Your slide inside the carb where the throttle cable attaches may be sticky.
1. Remove the air filter housing and tube connecting the filter to the carb.
2. Place scooter on center kickstand and start it up.
3. Twist the trottle while it is on there and watch through the carb inlet to see what happens to the slide as you release the trottle.
4. If it stays up and your bike continues to rev you narrowed it down to the slide or cable.
It is possible that your cable is binding somewhere if it is not routed properly and can create a bind even with a working cable. Check for air leaks by spraying brake cleaner around the carb gaskets and other areas that connect. Dont start your scooter on fire, do this out side of your garage. Good luck.

Re: 85' Aero Running Away issue- after 2 chem dipped carbs
I watched the slide multiple times and concluded it was working properly.
There was also no air leak according to your test.
What next?

So it was still maintaining the high rpm while conducting the test on the stand? how fast does it pull you while driving when you have the throttle stuck? Is iut stuck at 20 mph? 5 mph? Sounds weird.
