I finally got my 21mm carb kit on my spree :-)

Does your Spree/Elite already run great, and you're trying to make it quicker/faster? Need a monster motor swap? Discuss your ideas here.

Yeah but I was so darn curious, I had to do it. ;-) I just went for a quick burn up the road, I gotta down jet myth main a bunch and up jet the pilot a whole bunch. At least if I decide to put my big bore kit on I won't have to go through the pain of putting the carb on :-) I'm super glad I bought full jet kits for main and pilot jets B-)

I have the bbk already, and I think its time to install it after playing just now ;-) believe it or not that way too large for the bore carb really did work not too bad. It is totally too big though. The bottom end wasn't any worse but its really fussy in the top end. I'm sure I could could tune it better but I'm just going to pop the big bore kit on and enjoy it B-)

Doh, I forgot I need to have a cylinder head opened up for the bbk. I have a bunch of heads but none are cut yet. I was gonna install that bbk tomorrow and start heat cycling. Maybe I can drop a head off to be done tomorrow. Maybe I'll try the brand new stock cylinder kit while waiting for the head to come back

I ran my spree at 175psi of compression with a BBK from Taz and gears and a polini pipe from a dirtbike. That thing was Badaz for a spree. The guy still rides it and does not have issues with 92 octane. I would shave the head down .030'' while its there to bump it up a bit. :coolcruise: You will need a kickstarter to get it going. I ran the 21mm carb as well. viewtopic.php?f=16&t=21658 here is some of the chit chat on my spree. After gears I hit 50 MPH down hill, easily cruzed at 45 through town.

I wanna say I ended up facing off .045'' from the head. I would recommend sticking to .030'' it will increase your throttle response a lot. Once I got my compression up it rev'd like a dirt bike.

Did you open up the diameter of the head or did you just shave it?

I had been thinking of shaving the extra material off of the sides of this malossi head i had on my express bbk, to fit under the spree shroud, id get a new oring for it after breakin ;-) Image Image it was only $50 so i may just mod it, im thinking if i shave the outer diameter of the whole head to match the spree head and cut the ends of the fins at the diverter of the shroud to make sure the air can flow down in to the fan like it should from across the whole head im golden

Nice, Yeah I would add remove about .035'' off the bottom.

Then use the head gasket to scribe the bore inside diameter and have the machinist give you about .020'' of squish clearance. You can always add a thicker head gasket to reduce compression.

But taking .035'' will still be conservative, after that you may just want to run no gasket at all and apply spray on copper gasket to the head and call it a day. But that is only from my experience. I may have taken even more than .050'' I dont recall but I remember putting that head on my lathe at least 8 times until I reached my desired psi. I may have taken .065-.075'' total. But dont do that, I would run at least 150 PSI for a snappy spree, remember after break in the compression will raise a bit.
