87 Spree / unusual noise

Hey guys, I'm trying to figure out this strange noise coming from the left side cover or in this case crankcase cover. This 87 spree only has 900 miles on it. I was the first one to remove the cover. I broke the original seal/gasket just for inspection of the belt. Everything looked normal so I reassembled everything. When I started it up it sounded really loud inside the cover. I took it for a ride and it runs great, 30 mph right off the bat. I reinspected everything inside the cover and all looks good. If I turn the pulley by hand you can hear the noise, its like a whinning or dragging noise. I dont believe its a grinding noise. Could it be a bearing with such low miles? Also, this scooter was stored outside in a shed for years. Thanks for any input, indy111

Well it was the bearing. I replaced them and now its super quiet. Not an easy task.
