elite se50 brake light / signals
ive been having a little electrical problem with my 87 elite .my brake light dont seem to work properly it stays on but dont seem to get brighter wen i use the brakes i tried changing the bulb but i dont want to start messing with the harness with out any knowledge and the other thing is my signal lights stop working and i have no idea why
Re: elite se50 brake light / signals
I would start by checking the brake light switches. They are by the brake levers right in front of the brake cables. There should be a little button type switch that sticks out when brakes are applied thus turning on the brake light. Works like the automatic light switch on a walk in closet door. You can download the repair manual and it will show you how to access and test them. If that little center piece is gone or does not come out then it is bad. (you can check that just by looking at it with the brake applied once you figure out what you're looking for)

I would double check and make sure it has the correct bulb. It requires a dual element bulb unlike the turn signals which are single. Also check to make sure it's installed properly. The tabs on the side of the bulb are at different levels, look in the socket and verify it's in correctly and it's a dual element bulb.iwrightsoe wrote:its in place the switch works fine im about to take a look at the manual now thanks manspreeinkc wrote:I would start by checking the brake light switches. Did it work and then stop working or did you get it like that and it's not worked since you've had it?
