Well, this is as pretty as it'll ever look. This one was shipped to kurremkarm:

Image

Fixed the attachment to case with a welded tab, instead of ghetto plumber's tape. Pipe bolts up nice now. Finished up with a coat of flat black stove paint for easy refinishing as needed.

Kurremkarm is going to try respacing out the rear pulley rather than messing with the rear clutch, which I thought was a pretty good idea for a low-buck fix.

New pipe.

Post by kurremkarm »

This morning i went over to a friends house and used an impact wrench to get off my front pulley and replace my belt. Iwas going to put a washer behind the pulley but there was already one there. The spree manual doesnt show a washer at all. So i think maybe someone already did something, maybe put the washer there to give it more oomph, to let the belt last longer or something, who knows.

So when i got home my pipe from noiseguy was there and i bolted it on. I wish we had used a better pipe end, the one i sent him was a humongous pos. All his work looked good its just a piece of crap pipe i sent him.

From the line it has a lot less power but it didn't stall, it was just really quiet and slow. I think i can live with it, will prolly try stronger springs when i replace my clutch pads. Anyways, so it's quiet and slow then picks up.

I notice it likes a lot of gas and from 20+ it seemed more responsive with less throttle. Speed in kansas is wind based, i kid you not, you can push a 20 mph headwind one minute and a 20 mph tailwind the next. So taken with a grain of salt i would say my average flat windless top speed is about 33 mph.

Overall i needed a muffler anyway, this gives me a nice cruising speed of 30 without much trouble and an angry wasp sounding 34 or so top. Although it did hit 37 once downhill.

Noise, I'd love to know where you got your expansion chamber and mufflers. I bought the one you sent me a link to, and finally getting a chance to look at the flange piece I cut off of it, it's the same length as the piece I welded it to on the old flange. So I kept the original length. And it's loud as *.

Define 'work'. I have to use foot power to get it going fast enough to where the engine can actually start to accelerate the thing. Even then it climbs very slowly to 15 or 20. Then it kicks in and takes me to 35 or so. I don't like it, it's coming off. I saw 37 once. That's as good as I'm going to get I think. I'm returning the scooter back to stock and selling it.

Riding a scooter has marginal value to me. It was worth about $200. I paid $150 for the scooter. I'm over $200 already, and it will cost me nearly $200 more to get it licensed in Texas after all is said and done. That money won't come back. It was a challenge to see if I could get this thing to hit 40 for little money. Couldn't do it, but +10 mph isn't bad. It isn't worth more money to see three more mph.

Mine actually accelerates me from stop with no problem, doesn't even stall.

It's a bit slow off the line but im not racing my spree. I can hit 30 with some to spare which is my normal cruising speed. It will pretty much do 30 against the wind, uphill, whatever.

I also figure that since im giving less gas for the same performance that it probably helps my gas mileage as does the fact that at start it isn't racing off the line.

A bit slow off the line but my clutch pads were pretty beat up when i was last in there. Thinking i might have to get some new pads and a stronger spring, i bet that mod will have me quite pleased.

Now all we need to do is get together and make a group spring purchase.
