engine is full of gas

Post by Dspecht »

My Spree engine fills will gas so much the engine will not turn over. I am pretty certain it is coming from the fuel control valve vacuum line. This runs into the intake manifold and if it were leaking it would do this. The gas line is regulated by the float and valve so it cannot be getting into the cylinder this way as they are both perfect. Does the fuel control valve not have a diaphram in it or is it a rubber piston? Has anyone ever cut one apart to see whats inside and has anyone ever had this happen? harleyscooting

are you sure you have the gas and vacuum lines hooked up right, not switched?

I have the bottom of the fuel control valve running to the intake manifold and the top off of the fuel valve running to the carburetor bowl. I left the bottom (smaller line) off last night and sure enough it drained about an inch of gas into the can I had under it. Apparently the diaphram has a hole in it and the gas is leaking into the vacuum line and then into the cylinder/crankcase.

Hey mopedman,

Will that petcock, you're selling, work on an Aero NB50?

I drilled the petcock through from the top and top hole, capped the vacuum line on the petcock and carb and the problem is solved till I get a good petcock. I bought one on EBay but it was worse than mine. It really leaked.
