Do I have a Bad Stater

Post by dirtbikemikebike »

Alright, I know this is a Spree forum, I have one, but now i have aquired an Italjet. Lights get brighter as I go fast, then dim as soon as I slow down. At Idle i have lights, but nothing else. At top speed, I have lights and blinkers, but no horn. I know the batteries shot, but then I put a different one in there and it did the same thing. As soon as I turn the vehicle off, the lights brighten, then dim quickly. i put a voltage tester on it while I had the charged batterie in it, It was reading 12.3 volts, took it around the parking lot, and it read the same. What is wrong with my scoot. Thanks Mike
This is a 49cc, but bored to a 70cc.

I had a similar problem that manifetested itself as a blinker that got quicker as I reved it and slowed to nothing at idle. As it turned out one of the wires that was supposed to be connected to the positive (red) battery terminal was corroded and had bascily split so that only a little juice was getting through. If you can soder(sp?) then just cut the top a bit, re-strip the wire and soder it back to the connecter (the thing you screw to the battery)

One thing to also look at it a burnt fuse. But honestly it sounds a lot like my previous problem.

Actually, it was the fuse. I checked it today just for *, and I was pretty happy. Still need a battery, but problem solved. Thanks for the comment.
