This may sound very noob-ish of me, but...
I have an '86 Spree and want to ditch the factory engine for a Dio one. I've been having a hard time finding one, however, I may have found a Kymco version.
It's off a ZX50 Fever (Super Fever, maybe?) and the engine code is KY-SC10. My concern is I've read certain upgraded parts won't fit some Kymco engines and that certain ZX50s are the Dio-copies. I'm just not 100% sure if the one with that code is indeed a Dio or not.
My plan is to swap it over and then get a BBK, better carb, and an exhaust for it for the time being.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Dio swap help
Hi, All kymco zx50 super fever2 KY-SC10(AS) engines are Honda af16 and af18 partial clones. The major differences are the trans and rear wheel is 12 inch and not 10 inch, Uses a larger diameter rear driven pulley, longer belt to accommodate 12 inch rear wheel, has a larger rear brake, different stator/pick up, and used a restricted cdi in the usdm.
Cylinders, intakes, carbs, cdis, coils, variators, drive faces and bosses, (but that isnt exactly perfectly matched), and performance exhaust can be shared.
The zx50 has limited gear selections compared to the af16e but stock it has a taller final and 12 inch tire.

Re: Dio swap help
Good to know, thanks!
I'm picking up a bottom end with a bad crank for around $70, and since I couldn't find a full Dio swap, I figured I'd start somewhere. Finding the drivetrain, wheel, and brake will be the next task... For those three, does it have to be specific to the ZX50 as well?

Re: Dio swap help
if you use a SE50 engine mount you can mount the motor with out welding just some trimming of the mount .You will need to relocate the shock .About where the voltage reg is bolted is a great place with good angle .Actually you may need to go further back as your zx50 engine has a longer case for the 12" wheels

I did consider a stretch if anything. Finding a 12" wheel have to happen also.paulpauly7 wrote:if you use a SE50 engine mount you can mount the motor with out welding just some trimming of the mount .You will need to relocate the shock .About where the voltage reg is bolted is a great place with good angle .Actually you may need to go further back as your zx50 engine has a longer case for the 12" wheels

Re: Dio swap help
the se50 mount and longer case will make the back wheel sit about 3" to 4" back from a stock spree
