Carb came in today... its actually 24mm not 21. Is it still going to work? It mounts fine but I'm guessing I'll have to run a smaller jet

OK thanks.. well I tried it with the stock pipe just for the heck of it.. I mixed 50:1 oil plus the pump.. it started up and actually sounded pretty good.. I've got a 90 main jet. And a hole in the exhaust... the only problem is after about 1 min I noticed the oil was only about half way up the tube to the carb.. what could be causing the lack of pressure? Or is it normal to move that slow and I need to manually fill the tube first

if i was you id remove the oil pump and go full premix if not then put your petcock vacume hose to that barb on the carb where your oil line goes and oil line to the manifold .Also the pump is a very slow drip so it will take a while to fill the line completly befor it gets to the carb .

Greetings:

I recommend you navigate over to the Manuals section of the Forum and have a look in the engine section for the procedure to prime the lines to the pump. Your engine has been running on the Premixed oil in the tank ONLY so far. While most would think that a bit thin for break-in, it seems 50:1 is enough oil for survival this far. I predict it won't sound so good and run as clean when the pump oil finally reaches the intake.

Nice, clean work on the conversion, by the way.

Yeah need the mlm pipe. It rips. I'd almost think the stock pipe would be better with no extra holes in it. But thats just me. There is something to the design of the spree exhaust. I think if you want more out of it you would be better off enlarging the internals or possibly just the stinger just slightly but keeping everything the same lengths. Back pressure is a slippery slope, too much sucks, too little sucks hard to get it on the money. Hard to beat a real tuned pipe :-) also your slow moving oil in the line is normal. There is a only a small amount of oil that comes out if that line. The pump provides the oil pressure, back pressure has no effect on the oil pump. I prime my oil lines with my oil can of the same two stroke oil that I use in the oil tank. Just fill the oil line from the pump to the intake so you have as little air as you can get. Its easy. Sometimes I fill the line and install it and top the end up that goes to the intake.
