Two possibly differnt problems

Post by DYLANHSMITH »

THe first problem on my 86 spree is that occasionaly after hitting hard bumps or just randomly my spree looses electrical power and just comes to a dead stop, i previously posted the problem thinking it was a problem in the carborator. I cleaned the carb as directed actualy twice. Unfortunataly the problem persisted. I later found that if i touched the two wires going into the box that is on the airfilter that the sparkplug wire goes into it would run again. I thought it could be just a poor connection but i looked it all over and everything seemed fine. That problem seems to occur much less often now but i still have to keep the side panels off so that i can occasionaly "wiggle" the wires to make it run again. The seccond problem is that at full speed the moped is about 2 to 5 mph slower and sounds like it is running poorly at full speed. I thought the problem could be that when i took out the pins in the car that i put them in incorectly but i experimented with them alot and dont think that is the problem. Anny suggestions or ideas on what the problems are or if they are related is appreciated.

It seems more likely that it is a loose or rusted connection...

i wish i could avoid them because they have caused many other probelms aswell such as breaking the back shock and bending the rims but i ride it offroad alot where big bumps rocks etc are unavoidable at high speed.
