Well I am pretty sure I have all the small passageways cleaned out but one. After soaking in carb dip for 3 days, blowing them all out with compressed air, and re soaking again in Acetone over night. I have one passageway that so far has resisted clean out. I even poked and prodded with a .014 music wire to no avail.

It is the tiny passage from air mix screw>brass pickup tube in bowel>tiny exit hole in high velocity part of carb (I can remove the air mix screw completely with no change in the way it runs. I think it is clear going from air mix screw and exit point in neck of carb, but the brass pick up tube part of the "T" passages (to fuel bowel) is still plugged (I put a vacuum gauge on it and after creating a vacuum, the vacuum holds steady).

I am going to let if soak for several days in Acetone, any suggestions?

Oh yeah... this is on a 1985 Honda Spree 50cc





Is there supposed to be a clear passage between passage A and brass tube B? When I apply a vacuum at brass tube B it will hold a vacuum with no leakage shown on the vacuum gauge (so its clogged I assume)

It doesn't happen often, but sometimes you just can get a tiny passage clean. Luckily Spree's are extremely common, shouldn't be too hard to pick up a couple carbs from a local scooter scrapper. I usually pay $5 for incomplete carbs and $10 for complete ones.
There are four guys who have a large stash of Spree parts in my town. I would guess there should be several scooter guys in a large town near you.

You are lucky sprees are so common where you are, I have two sprees and have only seen three others and they were online for sale, one close to me and two were in another provinvce 500 miles away or more.as for that passage in the float bowl that feeds the pilot circuit. You can get them clear it can just take a long time. My express carb took over two hours to get clear. Poke a little, then spray with carb cleaner let it soak a bit then scrape and poke some more. A tiny numbered drill set could really be a help as well as a set of welding tip cleaners.

you guys must have some really gummed up carbs over there ive never had it take more than 1/2 hour to strip clean and reassemble to perfect working condition.Maybe its the differen types of fuel ? maybe ive just been real lucky.

Thank you everyone for your responses, especially mousewheels for the pictures he sent me. The clog up was inside a super tiny passage near the bottom of brass tube A.

An ultra sonic cleaner may fix that issue. A local shop may have one. A quick go in one may clean it right up. My express had lived a hard life before my buddy got it. It lived out in the elements for a long time and abused before that. I clean rotten disgusting carbs so often its scary. I mean the smell of rotten fuel is so bad it takes a week to get the smell out of hands. Its not the fuel here its just that leaving machines out in the elements winter after winter with the extremes of the Nova Scotia climate with neglect really takes it toll on carbs. I have an ultrasonic cleaner I got cheap from China but it runs on 220volts so I had an adapter but it melted it. So I need to try putting two circuits together to see if it will run. Ive heard of people boiling carbs and boiling them in vinegar. Seen people run them through a cycle in the dishwasher. Maybe a quick bath in some CLR rust and lime scale remover would clean it up. Be carful with the CLR not sure how it reacts with aluminum test it a little first to be safe.
