Easy motor swaps for SB50P?

Easy motor swaps for SB50P?
I've got an 88 elite e that runs ok, but I'd like to mod it for more power. Everything that I've read makes it sound like my motor/trans isn't worth modding. Are there any easy motor or transmission swaps that are adjustable and worth modding? I live fairly close to a bike scrap yard and saw a couple of Elite 80s there. Can an 80cc motor be stuffed into a SB50P?
Thanks
Thanks
Where are these bike scrapyards in the 'cities? How much do they want for the Elite 80's? If they were cheap, I'd drive down. I've got to go pick up a truck in the Twin Cities anyway.

I'll tell you after someone answers my question, I don't want you getting to the 80cc first.
Seriously though, there is a scrap yard called sport wheels that's halfway between Shakopee and Jordan on hwy 169, SW of the cities. They aren't very organized and have a lot of old junk. I'll have to ask what they want for the motor/trans, but their prices are generally average to high for things I would consider junk. I'll post a price when I find out.

I don't think he cares if he knows where they are.
Haven't seen a 80cc swap here yet. The 80cc is a 4 stroke, you'd actually be better off with a 50cc 2-stroke, esp. with mods. There are no off the shelf mods for the 80's (that I know of,) and I'm betting the swap will be more difficult than an Elite SA50 block. Neither is a straight bolt-up, but the 80cc will be larger (12" tire?)

Is it that one advertised as being in Jordan? That's a little far for me. I was hoping maybe somewhere like Rogers. Sometime, in the next month probably, I've got to go pick up a '82 VW Rabbit diesel pickup. That'll be my eBay find hauler.
What would be an example of the salvage yard's prices? More like $50 for a junk enduro/dirt bike, or more like $500? What do you think they'd want for the 80?

I'm not too worried about se50 grabbing up one of the elite 80s, they had at leat two if not a third. Plus if someone else tries the swap before me and decides it's not worth doing, then I've saved some time and $.
I didn't know the 80cc was a four stroke, not much gain there from a 50cc 2 stroke. There were also some mostly parted out aeros as well, any transmission parts there worth swapping? Any tuning potential there or are they non-adjustable like mine?
Thanks guys

the 87 elite.or aero engine would give you 45 -50 mph with minor mods, but this is the engine is still fresh, you would need to mod the engine mount to put the rear tire inline, also you would need to either fab a bracket,or weld something to the frame to put the shock into proper position.it would be the same if you put a af16e -"us dio" block in there but slighty different
In my aero I need to shift the motor over to the right if you looking form the back which required I grind the bracket on one side and add washers to the other ,also I had to relocate the tongue on the eng mount, just make sure when setting up the rear tire alignment you do it with the rear shock off.

85stroka- thanks for the advice, now comes more questions. Are you saying for the aero engine it needs to be an 87 as well or just the elite? Also how could I tell the year of the scooter if it's just a pile of parts in the yard? Is the assembly date stamped on the frame somewhere or do I need a VIN decoder of some sort?
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
Pretty much any Elite/Aero 50 can fit.

That would be the best. Next is '87-93 Elite, then Aero 85-86 Aero.maddog wrote:Look for a 94 and up elite-s engine!

87-93 Elite, That's what I have now, an 88. The transmission isn't adjustable and there doesn't seem to be speed parts available because of this. Currently mine runs about 37 mph on a flat, can pull me (200 lbs) up a hill at 30, but is real slow off the line. I can handle the slow accel, but need more top speed so I don't get run over.
87-93 elite would be a af05e -on the rear gear cover with have the stamping
85-87 aero and 87 elite are the same blocks again af05e
94-01 elite S would be af16e
88-9? JDM dio blocks are af18e but there's large crank and small crank, plus different rear drive setup's on dio fit's etc

I was surfing and found a VIN listing for Honda scooters and they had the 87 Aero listed as AF09E, was there anything special about that motor or just a typo?
My second question would be about the transmissions, I assume all the AF05E trannys are like mine, the AF16E are adjustable but what about the late 80's Aeros?
Thanks again for the help guys.
