1983 Honda aero 80 oil light

Post by jcolella »

My oil light on my '83 aero 80 has come on the last couple of days. I bought new oil and filled the reserve (it seemed low, but not that low) but the light has not gone off. My question is how can I tell if if it is the sending unit (is there a sending unit?) or if my engine is not getting oil?
Thanks for the help!

Greetings:

The light is turned on by a float switch in the oil tank. Evidently yours is malfunctioning.

Greetings:

You must get to the switch somehow. On Sprees and Aero 50s, it's set in a rubber grommet and just pulls out. Manually raise the float and see if the light goes out. Maybe some ancient oil gum has caused it to stick? Reconnect and rejoice after cleaning tne snag.
