hit bumps - runs like crap

Post by mikeb »

what the crap is going on. i built a spree for my friend and just finished it tonight. the thing looks great and absolutely rips - the thing does 34 on flats and is completely stock. runs great - until it hits a bump.

when it hits a bump, it only does like 15.

what is going on - bc i'm stumped. i've worked on this thing for days and thought i had that problem fixed (it was happening before).

Are you running an inline filter? Because what I noticed when I was running my spree with an inline filter is that while stopping short it would die out, and over bumps it would just bogg out and run slow. Now after removing the inline filter, (manual doesn't even show one, or speak about one) because the fuel strainer in the tank is good enough to filter out the fuel, my scoot runs great, I can make really short stops without it dying out, and it only dies out over long rapid bumps (because fuel gets shook up in carb). Hope this helps.

Does it stay at 15 or come back up to speed? Sounds like the carb is starving for fuel. Test the auto fuel shutoff valve(if installed) Put vacuum on it and pull the fuel line and fuel should flow. As the fuel is flowing bang on the seat or the valve itself and see if you lose vacuum or fuel flow.
