1986 honda spree NO KEY

how would i go about wiring it to a TOGGLE switch!

that are the four wires on the key switch RED + 2 BLACKS + GREEN

plz i need HELP i wanna ride i bought it for 50$ from a neighbor who lost the key

My SE50 elite has a toggle. I forget to shut it off alot, and the tailight kills my battery.

I haven't looked to see how it is wired up, though. I will, soon, since I'll be putting speakers in it for a stereo. Wiring between a Spree and Elite should be similar.

red = power
black = power out
green = ground
black/white = kill

haven't had to do it on sprees yet - but on most bikes you hook up the power and ground and start it up. i would always hook everything up so that the lights and starter would work (you'll have to figure out what to power with the out) connect everything with connectors, and then put a switch inline to the ground on the battery - make that switch hidden and you don't have to worry so much.

Just put a switch between the Red and the Black (toggle) CLip the Green wire off the Ignition Switch so not to keep a normally closed ground signal to the ignition kill. (The motor will still run without main power).When you flip the toggle the bike will act like you just turned the key to the on position.
After you are done riding use your Engine stop switch on the handle bars to kill the motor then trip the toggle to kill the power to the rest of the bike.
If you want to kill the motor and the power to the bike with one toggle you need to buy a double poll single throw switch.(email me I'll draw you a wiring diagram)
For security you can put the toggle anywere...Like a micro mini switch under the front of the seat or you can buy a key switch from Radio Shack with two polls (on/off).

living in escanaba probably helps. if i didn't have switches some little kids would start my bikes.

Ok !! thanks for the help

BUT !!

Now it will crank > it is getting spark due to my massive search for a new plug (LOL) but it wont start . u may need a lil background hist on the spree

I have lived in my house for 4 years and never knew my neighbor had the SPREE

so to the best of my knowledge it has been over 4 years sence it has seen daylight

I drained the FUEL not shure how to drain the OIL ( or what type to use)

I need a list of things to check in order to solve my problem thanks for all of your help ABOVE and the same help kind of help is in need again

Use injection 2 stroke oil. Just pop the line off and drain it. Bleed according to manual which is in tech docs. If you didnt read, please do so. It will save the trouble of all of us telling you everything. Change sprk plug. Check air pressure in tires. Make sure you take the petcock out and pull the strainer out(not required but recommended.) And take apart the carb and clean it good. (in tech docs) We all cant stress how clean that carb gotta be.

i would clean the oil strainer too. and bleed the lines.

What year is it? (does it have a kick start) Make sure you are getting gas to the carb. (The auto fuel shutoffs go bad often, I know mine is bad now) Make sure you have the vacuum line hooked to the valve and like everyone else said "DRAIN EVERYTHING" The oil you could just pull the line and pour new oil in and flow a 1/2 quart through it, its a hillbilly way of doing it but if you loose prime you could get in trouble, but make sure to clean the filter after the drain. Go on ebay and get yourself the service manual, it really helps. Start with these things first and see what you got. If you still cant get it started then let us know. We'll get it running for ya'

Real good. BLACK w/ purple lettering , yes it has a kick start witch i will be using alot during the re build to save the battery

I will READ the TECH DOCS to save you guys some trouble . This is my first ROMP with 2 stroke engines , i used to RACE go-carts so im familiar with how CLEAN everything needs to be.. thanks again i will be starting back up on it on friday cause im off work and all next week i'll be off too so i will have it runnin by then I HOPE

WELL!! theres progress i DRAINED everything and did a major cleanjob on everything i could see GRIME on i used gas on the carb cleanout and put it all back together.

threw a CHARGER on the batt and commenced to cranking i heard LIFE in the ol' beast but it was short lived. at one point i got it to start and idle for 3 min or so it just wont stay running and as soon as i hit the throttle it BOGGS to a quick death

heres what ive noticed

a miniscule ammount of oil on the bottom of the sparkplug
the headlight DIMMED AND GOT BRIGHTER ( when i had it at an idle)
i had no air filter so i used a gasoline fumed rag

LOL!
a large smell of EXHAUST

is there a timing setting at all ? what size airfilter do I use?

i read about the BYSTARTER in these fourms and could not get mine apart for cleaning so i did a the test by pulling it outta the carb and cranking the engine ( it did nothing could that be the problem !!

timing is not adjustable. Get an airfilter from honda or equivalent. U shouldnt be running it with a GAS soaked rag, if anything at least, an OIL (gear oil 70-80 WT) soaked rag or sponge if you can't get a filter.
