You're going to need to get some pics of this engine, esp on the fan side. I want to see what's under the fan (spark pickup, etc.)

I'm wondering if the engine is some sort of hodge-podge of parts?

As I said before, I bought a replacement CDI with no luck. I removed the flywheel to clean up the insides with no luck. There must be a logical reason why this thing will not run in the correct direction. It seems like a timing issue but you can't adjust the timing. What other parts of the motor control timing besides the CDI? HELP ME!!!!!

I may have missed something, but have you tried cranking it over the opposite direction of what you are doing with the drill?

Yes....once I realized I was cranking the engine in the wrong way I switched direction. It won't run the correct way. Just backwards...not well mind you. It will rev up but not with a lot of power. Like I said...it seems to be a timing issue that is more correct running backwards than forwards. I do not know the history of the Spree before I bought it. It might have parts that are not right for it. I have pictures people can see if that will help. I have been trying to get this to run since April and I need ideas.

OK. Now need a pic of the flywheel and the year of your scoot. Guessing yours is an 84/85 based on the pickup. Get a shot of the pickup, the little chuck of steel that sticks out from the side of the flywheel, maybe it's damaged.

I still think the issue is in the induction system (dirty idle jet, unsealed bystarter, reeds, or air filter box) but we'll run this course a bit.
