I am going crazy!

Post by Incomel »

So I went to check my fuel valve to see if anything was wrong (see post on high rpms and no power) and when i went to put it back together I cant get the stupid throttle cable to work. It seems that when i screw on the throttle cap it squeezes the spring together and if i move the throttle cable there is no spring anymore (the cable and spring works perfectly when the throttle cap is not screwed in). My only idea is that the throttle valve is not going far enough down into the carburator in order for the spring to fully extend. I can barely get the throttle valve flush with the top of the carburetor pipe. Is that normal or should it slide further down in the carburetor? Thanks for any advice guys, I just spent three hours and it is probably an easy fix but I just can't get it.

ok there is a raise on the inner slide part of the carb, in a spree twards the cylander, and there is a slide area on the slide, ( a long grove ) well just line em up till the slide falls fully in and youll be set.

Will it slide down below the top part of the metal tube on the carburetor or if the throttle valve is flush has it slide down as far as it will go.

Well, after your suggestion myspree, i took another closer look and the little plastic raise on the inner slide was bent and crooked and thus wasn't allowing me to push the valve all the way down and thus wasn't allowing the spring to fully extend. Anyways i ended up breaking the raised plastic part off and it slide down in perfectly and now the throttle works. Does anyone know if that might cause a problem, me breaking off that plastic piece? Thanks

Yeah, there was a small plastic knob in the carburetor pipe that you line up the throttle valve. Don't ask me why plastic and not metal. Stupid if you ask me. Anyways i broke it off because it was so bent and smashed anyways and now the throttle is working...belt or something keeps slipping horribly and i can't make it up my driveway but that is another problem.
