Polini Pod Filter - how I went from not liking, to a good fi

Post by johnny248 »

So on Rip City's gooch build, we were talking about the Polini pod filter. I was complaining about the filter quality. The foam did not seal well, the end of the filter had a foam disc inserted that just sat there.

Well, what I did was glue in the end disc so the foam is now one piece. I then oiled the filter. After oiling it, I noticed that I was now able to pull the filter up around the edge of the cage. When dry, it just stopped and didn't seal the housing. Well, now while oiled it stretches over the cage, and is squeezed between the cage and housing for a nice tight good seal. This just made this filter 100% better and I no longer have any issues with running it and expecting it to catch dirt like it should. I guess the oiling allowed the foam to stretch more and hold in place around the cage.

I got a new one coming and will do this with my old and try to do a side by side and see if there is any difference. after I took my off I noticed there was some small particles on the cone of the carb coming in from the filter. which is why I inspected my filter to begin with noticed that it is two pieces(not ripped like I thought) I tried to call and email polini multiple times and still heard no response. I was told that it doesnt need to be oiled. and that is probably the case but I like your self feel much better knowing that is as I should in theory catch more particles coming through.
