Now With Pic- Welded a larger tip on my exhaust...

Hi,
I've read stuff about welding a larger tip on the exhuast of the scooter. Well, I hacksawed mine apart last night, cut the little mini silencer in half with a stick welder cranked up, and ground the weld on the outside of the tip, until I could pop it out. I welded a 3/4" od x5/8" id tip on the exhaust. I stick welded it all back up (1/16" rod; burned through a lot of it, and had to grind and reweld all my welds, so I could get it looking good, on the entire thing). Put it back on, and gave a nice noise. Not much different than stock, noise wise, but, it does have a cool noise at idle. Really sounds like a 2 stroke at idle. Looks cool, too.

I bought a wire feed welder tonight (Hobart Handler 140), so I will grind my bad welds out again, and reweld it so it looks nice. I'll take a pic tomorrow. My Elite still does 25 with it, removed variator restrictor, no muffler restrictor, UNI air filter, etc. Sounds cool, though.

Would anyone pay to have this done to their muffler? If so, how much? It would be welded well, now that I have a MIG welder.

Here's the pic of it. Sorry for the bad picture (it was dark, and I couldn't really see anything on the camera's LCD), and the welds are crappy, since I had to fill in a lot of areas with the MIG welder, that I burned through with the stick welder.

I have done the same after doing decarb with torch. I used a piece of
3/4 inch conduit for the tip. I brazed mine. This works better with thin-wall rusty metal and is strong enough for this small pipe.

Well, it doesn't look "pretty", but, I ground out my crappy stick welds, that burned through a lot, and MIG welded it all up. There are some pretty big welds, as I was trying to fill areas where I burned through previously. I'll get a pic posted later today. Waiting for it to cool now, so I can paint it.

It'll get there. I've got to list some Kawasaki KLR250 parts on eBay, and then I'll take a pic of all my motorized vehicles, post those, and a pic of my rat scooter and exhaust.

Would anyone pay to have it done to a Spree exhaust? I'd have to get a couple junk Spree exhausts to practice on, and see how it's configured inside. Rather than cut it all apart, I just cut the end open, and got lucky, and cut it right on the line of the packing area and baffle area. Anyone want to sell the exhausts that they cut their downtubes off of, and sent the downtube to Noiseguy? I need to practice on some exhausts before I'd offer larger outlets on the exhaust as a service (to pay for a VW Jetta).
