its been awhile since Ive updated. running a 110 main clip raised all the way up and running a 36 pilot. a few things that Ive noticed as of late. its been a little boggy in the lower rpms when getting on the gas and when returning to the gas after letting off. there are times when if I just try to go slower and hold the throttle about half open after letting off that it just wants to bog and lose power. if I were to open it up all the way it bogs a little and then takes off. this isnt overly concerning to me at this point as I pretty much run wideopen but its noticeable. that said its running great if I want to go 35 and need to hold the throttle there its alot better than it used to be.

an odd thing ive noticed lately was feeling my bike shift if im cruising around and not running wideopen. not sure whats up with this as up until about 2 weeks ago Ive never noticed the shift before and when it does do it its very noticeable. ill be cruising then it will shift and it GO even thought the throttle hasnt changed. ive never felt it do this when going wide open just when im cruising around 40-45.
ive noticed a small leak coming out of my trans so at some point this winter I will address that. just leaves a small drop or two after running her hard. not a constant leak and I will keep an eye on the gear oil level.

road it to work today and got pulled over by the same cop that pulled me over the last time I got stopped for speeding. this time I was doing 48 in a 35 and thought I was getting a ticket for sure. not sure if he recognized me or not but I remembered him. He says to me "not sure how you did it but you were going 48 down that hill back there" and knew that my look of pure and utter shock would not work this time so I was just like "it musta been that hill" he says"well you have an after market pipe on there" Me" oh that is just to help with low end torque it doesnt really do a whole lot. these things are pigs from a stop" thankfully I finally got insurance on it last month as this time he asked for my papers. after digging around I found them and hand them to him he glances at them and hands them back and goes and runs my license and comes back and looks at my speedo and says"when that thing is pegged your speeding!" me "yeah but its not really all that accurate and honestly didnt think I could get going that fast ya know" him"well with that pipe is loud and gets you alot more attention" me "thats kinda the point Im small and loud bikes save lives" he chuckles and hands me my license and tells me to be safe. I thanks him and tell him the same and he rides off. no ticket agian. I dont think I will get so lucky the 3rd time. guess I should learn to ride with out the throttle wide open all the time. sure that might happen.

Currently running yellow clutch with a yellow contra. Clutch doesn't grab till around 6k Rpms which might be a little low but not sure I want it much higher. There is definitely some lag in the clutch because it does tend to wind up when getting back in the throttle I've just kinda lived with it. You and Ed are running different contras if I remember correctly.

You need insurance in OR on your scoot? Over here, if its under 100cc on the title, its a moped. Which means $15 for a 3 year license sticker. No insurance required.

Yeah in Oregon it needs insurance and plated even for mopeds. One could probably get away with it but after my first run in with the law and not having insurance at the time I'd rather be safe. It's only 80 bucks a year so no biggie better that than a ticket since I can't seem to stay under the speed limit

That's not too bad then. For someone reason I was relating to the costs of our auto insurance here in Michigan which is one of the highest in the country.

I was pulled over on my scoot doing 57 in a 45. It went down like this:
"Do you know why I pulled you over" ?
"No sir"
"You were doing 57, speed limit is 45"
"Are you sure? This is just a moped. The speedometer only goes up to 35"
He then looked down at the bike, then back at me at said
"Come on man. Look at that pipe. This thing is all raced out. I could hear you a half mile away"
I laughed a little bit and said
"Yeah, I guess it does go a little faster than 35, but I wasn't sure how fast I was going because the speedo only reads to 35"
He then said:
"Well, when you are switching back and forth between the lanes and passing the other cars, I think it is safe to say that you should probably know that you are more than likely going faster than the posted speed limit"
-busted....
"I've got nothing lol. I'll be sure to slow it down"

He was actually pretty cool about it. Let me go with a warning and said that if I just follow behind the traffic on front of me instead of switching lanes to pass everyone I'll probably be OK with the speed since I don't know how fast I am going.

I definitely keep it around the speed limit on that stretch of road now lol

In Michigan, if you are caught going over 35mph and not insured, they can confiscate the bike for lying to SOS about the stats. Anything over 30mph needs to be plated and insured. Be careful!
The guy before me that owned my scooter had it plated and insured. The SOS made me sign an affidavit that it's under 100cc, does not exceed 30mph, does not shift gears, and has all working lights. This was just to put a scooter sticker on it.

d***. I've never had to do anything like that. I've owned mine since I was 15 way back in 1994 and just walk in and renew the sticker.

That would have to be one c*cksucker of a cop to do something like that , but I guess they are out there. I could see a statie doing something like that.

Ran the bike around today. Put about 30 miles on her. I am seeing more issues where is seems like my belt doesn't want to down shift. For example was riding almost wide open to cross a bridge which isn't a issue normally at the end of the bridge is a left turn directly up a long hill(my nemesis hill) typically I slow down bank and throttle out to cruising speed about 40-45 up this section to merge into traffic. Today it wouldn't rev up for almost 10secs. It just had no guts and would very slowly gain rpm and once it hit the right rpm it was fun and would ride normal. It's happened where it did this coming up to a light so I held it open(no power) till I stop at the light to see what would happen. Once I get low Enough speed wise or Rpms it launches normal. But I'm definitely noticing that shift up to high a lot more as of late. Where for the first 1500 miles I rode it I never felt it till about a month ago or so.
to me it feels like a clutch issue. Might be time for new springs. My belt has less than 200 miles on it. Although I was thinking is it possible the variator is functioning properly? Will get it open when I get some time and inspect.
I need to get some new hopefully non noisy brake shoes and a few other things so I'll just get some new rollers and springs when G9 gets back.

Rollers flat? Belt getting worn? Weak Contra spring? Low Power output? Any or all are possible. Three are easy to fix.

It's possible the rollers are getting flat they got some miles on them. Don't think weak power is an issue. And not sure how long contras last it's got under 30 hours on it. Belt has less than 300 miles on it.
Gonna check em here when I can. Other than that issue the bike is screaming.

So it sounds like when releasing the throttle and getting on it again, the forces "downshifting" the belt are slow to act. The contra springs from non-Italian countries fatigue pretty quickly, especially the stiffer ones. Even a healthy spring can fight against rollers that are worn and somehow "jam" in the outboard ends of their ramps. There's one more thing: There is built into the 3 pins on the moving part of the rear pulley a cam mechanism that sort of "automatically" starts pushing the belt in the desired direction for quicker action on/off throttle. If the rear pulley lacks of Lube, that action is slow.

What's going on with your brakes? What kind of shoes do you have there? I sometimes get one small sqwauk from my front brake at the first stop I make at the end of my street if the bike has been sitting for a little bit. After that first stop, it doesn't come back.

I've been pretty happy with the EBC groved shoes (333G) . They aren't very expensive and have seemed to work fine for me. I have also looked in to the DP shoes, which ive read some good things on. G9 has those really nice looking Malossi shoes for a good price. I've read somewhere also that they are of a higher coefficient material and tend to work better when they are hot than they do at cooler temps , but I've never used them.

How many miles are on your Malossi Yellow contra spring? Cruzinggratiot has told me that he usually starts to see a decline in performance with them after about 500 miles or so. I'm sure that what you are experiencing is related to one of the cvt wear items as mentioned above.

Wheel, have you had any experience with the Koso contra springs? I ordered a 1500rpm version, but haven't used it. I was just wondering since I read on here that they are supposed to hold up pretty well. At least as good if not better than the Malossi?
