Need help with gyro petcock
I recently picked up a 85 gyro, only 600 miles on the odo. Owner told me it sat for 20+ years and had old gas in it. I easily got it running by using an eBay carb and gas feed from an alternate tank. I then removed the tank to clean it but when removing the petcock the tank filter broke. Looking to replace with an after market petcock but can't find one. Anyone know the thread size for this petcock or have any experience with a replacement? Thanks! Also thinking I could fix/clean the existing petcock, but not sure how to do that.

Re: Need help with gyro petcock
Greetings:
Although the Common Wisdom is that Carb Dip (Berryman's) will dissolve rubber and plastic, my experience has been different. I got a stuck petcock to resurrect with a couple of days' soaking. Since it doesn't work now, what have you got to lose? The plastic filter piece is ubiquitous, and one from another model might work. Otherwise, consider an inline "Cone O' Stone" filter.

Re: Need help with gyro petcock
I will definitely put an inline filter in but would like to replace the petcock rather than try to fix. i feel the tank filter is important especially since there was rust in the tank. i just cant find any after market petcocks that specifically say they will fit the gyro tank. thanks
