Drano muffler cleaning
Drano is causitc soda, sodium hydroxide, alkali, or whatever. I plan to flush the muffler out with hose water, then I'll cork the tip and pour the whole bottle down the exhaust and let it sit for a couple of days. I'm trying to unclog it.

Did you run water through it first? it needs to react with water to do anything... Mine is so clogged I was only able to put a half bottle in the muffler. So half of the drano soaked in over night and the next day I was able to shake out a mess of crap, but I can tell there is a lot more so now I have the other half of the bottle soaking in there. Its slowly soaking in... I used liquid draino but I hear the crystals are more concentrated so I think I'll pick up some crystals today and try that.
Yeah! I'm down to bare shiny metal when I look down the pipe... I got some Drano Kitchen Crystals and they were a lot stronger. I poured about half the can down the primary and shook it down until it worked its way down deep into the muff. There was water left in there from flushing out the liquid drano and so the crystals started reacting violently, spitting up crap and shooting out caustic gasses... definetly want to open a window or better yet do it outside. The muffler then got too hot to touch as the reaction was happening. so I gave it a good shake and let it sit for a day or so. Then flushing and shaking it out for a good hour, then repeat with the other half of the crystals. Finally it sounds hollow when I tap the side instead of sounding like a brick. If you use hot water the reaction happens even faster and boils over. It makes a mess and dont let it touch your skin because it burns (temperature and chemical burns)! I wanted to use red devil lye but the drano crystals were good enough. red devil lye is impossible to find around here because people were using it to make meth so they stopped selling it.
