High idle and runaway idle? Air leak? Any help ?

Post by Chrisnycspree »

Engine hesitates, idols high and "runaway" then bogs out? Idle adjustment isn't doing anything? I'm thinking air is getting in? Any help in trouble shooting?

Greetings:

I suspect a throttle slide issue. It must drop with ease to rest on the throttle stop screw. There is a groove in the slide and a nub in the slide bore. Any amount of force greater than the return spring will mangle both.

Perhaps ur air box came loose, sounds like extra air to me, try turning air screw all the way in the 0.5 turn out, that should choke it quite a bit, if that helps you have an air leak.

If you took the carb off how did the carb spacer look? Is that oring going okay? Mine was flattened out at one point pretty bad. Like the other user said, airbox is a big problem with the spree. Without an good filter and what not. if not runs bad.
