How do you take the piston off ?

there is a clip on the side of it. pry the clip out with a needle or a very small screwdriver. once this is out slide the pin out of the piston and its out.

also, be very careful when puting the cylinder back on! i had a broken set of rings one time when i tried it too forcefuly. you need to make sure to use a lot of oil to lube the cylinder and piston, and make sure the rings are pressed in correctly when u slide the cylinder on. all just precautions, for when you're putting the cylinder back on.

btw, if your planning on installing a new piston, then make sure to get your cylinder honed out. its a very important step to make sure the new piston sets in right.

right. the rings are tempered so they will only flex a little. they are very fragile and can get expensive quick.

lol. i hope they dont break. but i was just going to take the piston off to clean were the rings go. but sjhould i just use 2 storke oil?

why are you doing that? if its apart u might as well replace the rings for some restored power. and if u take it all apart u will need new head+base gaskets. about $30 total.

thats what im doing ive done ordered the gaskets and rings see i broke the rings that were on there forcing them n the jug.

just wonderin when u put your rings on did you use that ring spreader tool or di u do it by hand?

by hand. put one side in the grove and twist very slowly. if it catches or becomes hard.STOP! take your time.
