honda spree iowa

Post by enickell »

Does anyone know anything about replacing the transmission gears on a honda spree iowa to take the restriction off? Will the gears from any honda spree work? thanks for your help.

There is a restriction on the exhaust, not the tranny, if you lookedaround in the forums, you would have found that out. But to my understanding there is some sort of restricting washer on the exhaust by the engine, if you remove that you should be good.

I thought that it was an iowa because it seems like something disengages at 25mph, but the vin number shows that it is not an iowa. so i am confused. I t feels like it wants to keep going at 25 but then something shuts off. I will try the exhaust thing.

i had a 84 iowa at one time. my friends made fun of of me cause it was so slow. it was mint, but the top speed......25. thats all. if u have a true 84, the muffler on a 84 spree sucks. the tube that runs from the cylinder to the muffler itself is all one size. very restrictive. find a 85 muffler. those were the best mufflers. goes from a small tube and gets bigger when it meets the muffler. try that, or buy one of noiseguys speed pipes.

the exaust will do that grind out the washer and drill ur baffles it will be louder but the bottom end will be great and you will add a few mph to the top end it will have better acceleration as well.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.
