Okay, I recently got a Spree and cleaned it up, etc, and since it was free and some of the plastics are in bad shape anyway I figured why not try speeding it up?
I found this site here (someone from here I think?)

Noiseguy's hints to hop up your spree.
(Try at your own risk, I seriously do NOT recomend any modifications of any kind to your Spree)
"If you really feel spunky, want to get the most out of your ped and you have about 40-50 bucks to spend and 4 hours of free time here is what you do.
1. Remove the head and have about 60 thousandths shaved off. 20 bucks labor and 6 bucks for a new head gasket. This will increase your compression for more power
2. Take a dremel to the intake manifold and open up the restriction, you will see it when you remove the manifold. This will increase air flow, more top end power
3. File about 1/16 inch off the front inside pulley half on the belt drive. This will slightly increase the drive ratio for a higher top end
4. Buy a size 70 main jet and install it in the carburetor costs about 6-10 bucks at your local Honda dealer. You will need this if go to an after market air filter assembly to insure proper air/fuel ratio
5. Buy the chrome topped cotton filter element K&N oil breather cap for a Chevy v-8. It costs about 12 bucks and it makes a perfect after market air filter. It fits right on the rubber tube that goes to the carburetor. You will have to remove some off the old air filter assembly though. This combined with the jet gives you more top end power and RPMs.
6. Drill out the exhaust. That relieves some back pressure for more available power."
If you question why I would not do this, reffer to number 4* of the first *Do not try this*
Number 4: A death wish (you├óÔé¼Ôäóll be going extremely faster than the wheels/brakes/transmission were made for)
Just wondering if this stuff is recommended or even possible without wrecking the engine. Has anyone here done this?
Thanks

all of that will work and has been performed by many members of this site except there is a typo YOU CANNOT SHAVE MORE THAN .020 OFF THE HEAD ANY MORE AND YOU WILL GET PISTON HEAD CONTACT!
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.
Thanks for the response
What kind of top end increase in power can be expected after doing this?
Oh, and where would you be able to get a head gasket for $6? I've only been able to find one on ebay for 29.99 which is more than I payed for the scooter. Can you get it from a Honda dealership?
Thanks

For drilling out the exhaust what method works best? I've seen cutting the entire thing open and removing the baffles, putting a long bit on a drill through the end hole on the muffler, and drilling a hole before the baffles.
As I wouldn't want to get too complicated and I don't have welding equipment I'm thinking I would go with sticking a bit in the end but is this as effective as the other methods?
Thanks
PS - If I didn't happen to have that large a drill bit could I just put a hole in it with a long nail? Like say 9-12 inches?

first decarb the exaust start a campfire and throw it in wait till the whole ting is glowing red and has stopped smoking. after it has cooled grind out the resctrictor washer and put a drill up the end hole and drill out the baffles. THen you neeed to clean all off the baked carbon and metal shavings out of the muffler i used a garden hose. after its cleaned out paint it if you want and put it back on the bike. this will give you a HUGE boost of bottom end power and add a couple mph to the top end
