Drilling out the muffler (before the baffles?)

So I've searched far and wide for specific instructions on how to correctly drill out the muffler to gain a few MPH. I want to do it, however I don't want to mess it up. Does anyone have pictures or would be willing to take pictures on where or how they modded thier muffler? It would be greatly appreciated by both myself and other n00bs out there.

ok heres how to drill out a muffler first get a drill bit as long as the muffler itself (DONT count the downtube! you will never find ine that long) and as big as you can fit in the little hole in the back where the exaust comes out then put the drill bit in the hole in back where the exaust comes out and drill you will run int plates inside the muffler theese are the baffles drill right through them untill you drilled every one just be careful not to drill through the muffler body itself

i cant remember 5 or 6 is my guess all i nkow is they were kinda hard to drill through

So I went through with the drilling, and I actually had to force my way through the first set of baffles, which was a bit difficult due to me having to go in on an angle.

Nevertheless, I have not gained any MPH, but the scooter had seemingly much more low end now.

Any other easy/cheap/free mods?

im thinking about doing this but im not sure, i know the person that had the ped before me had a dirt bike muffler on there and the thing was awesome but they took it off because it rubbed against the tire.

any one know a dirt bike muffler that will mount up to a 92 honda elite sr?

another cheap/free mod is to grind out the intake and polish it for better flow. Have you decarboniaed the muffler?

I put a hole in the muffler after reading many opinions about it on this site. I have only gained about 2 mph (32 on a flat straight), BUT it has alot more jump on the take off. I know longer fear pulling out onto a major road. I know that I can quickly reach a decent speed.

Okay, dumbest question of the day... after I do this drilling what happens to all the shavings? Do I need to clean out the exhaust somehow or will these just blow out when I run the scoot?

After i drilled mine i threw it in the campfire to decarb it and then flushed out the ash and metal shavings with a garden hose.

yes BUT, something he did not say that is MUST. you have to let it cool off before you try to spray anything in it
if you had it on a fire or grill and took it off and just sprayed a hose in it , it would warp and not fit right of crack. Let it cool

Is cooking it a "must do" after drilling or just an extra little something to help clean out old crud in the muffler? Will riding it blow out the shavings or f things up? Don't really know where the * I could find a fire to stick it in... I live in a quasi-urban neighborhood. In short, should I not drill if I can't cook?

some where here there is info on chemical cleaning of the muffler, advanced tech docs maybe? you can just put your muffler on a barbecue grill to get the carbon out which should be okay even in an urban area.
but, the muffler only blows out, the shavings would have no way of getting sucked into the engine or anything like that...i can't think of a problem that would occur from just leaving the shavings inside the muffler.

i live in a really small town so fires are easy to come by however what i normaly do is when my step dad is done grilling ill just go put it on the grill and leave it there for a long time. till the grill and pipe is cold
