Dies when I hit a bump.

Post by gwillis »

Got the old gal runniing, and now whenever a hit a bump or even rock off the stand -- it quits. Restarts immediately.

I have put in a new plug, "tapped" on all the elecrical components except pulse generator, and she runs fines, so I'm ruling out ignition. But what the heck else could it be?

Anything else I should try?

Mine does this too. No idea why, but it only does it when it's first started, dropping off the stand.

Solved

Post by gwillis »

Found the problem. Floated the carb in a glass of gas, and discovered the float was not activating early enough -- not floating until totally subnmerged. Upon inspection -- a hairline francture in the float was allowing small amounts of gas in.

Looking to seal the float now, or get another one. Ideas???
