I picked up a junky old Elite someone was getting rid of and it doesn't have a key. I am wondering if I remove the ignition key cylinder and bring it to Honda will they cut me a key without having proof of ownership? They cut a key for my car but I needed to show them the title. Right now I can't even open the seat to put gas in it.
Also, how can I tell what year the scooter is?
No key or title for Elite E

you can open the seat by sticking a screwdriver in the slot and turning the seat lock doesnt actully lock. or at least thats how it is on a spree. a dealer might not cut that key but a locksmith will. you can tell the year by looking at the tag riveted to the frame behind the front wheel
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.
Thanks for the info, the seat opened right up with a screwdriver, I had no ideaKenny_McCormic wrote:you can open the seat by sticking a screwdriver in the slot and turning the seat lock doesnt actully lock. or at least thats how it is on a spree. a dealer might not cut that key but a locksmith will. you can tell the year by looking at the tag riveted to the frame behind the front wheel
Now I'm going to try taking the cylinder to the dealer and see if they'll cut me a key.

If any key including a screwdriver works on the seat lock, it
may not be helpful in getting a key for the ignition.
The ignition switch does have alpha numeric codes for the key.
Some dealers can cut or order a key from the code.

Yes. Remove the lock cylinder and look for a code etched/stamped into
it. Take that lock cylinder and that code to your local Honda moto
dealer and they can look it up and cut new keys for you.

I meant taking the ignition key cylinder to the dealer, not the dummy seat lock cylinder. Thanks for the info!mousewheels wrote:If any key including a screwdriver works on the seat lock, it

Title issue depends on what state you're in.
