Still having problems
I'm still having a hard time with this Spree. I got new plugs, the new ones that came with it were incorrect. With a new plug I got it started right away, but it would only run at half to full throttle, once I let off it died, it was flooded. I'm at this point that every thing I assume is wrong. I have one other Two stroke and it has never given me any problems, so I've learned very little on two stroke repair, if you can point me in the right direction I would appreciate.
clean the carb? i don't know... when ever mine flooded cleaning the carb seem to help, also are you sure you have the right plug? were did you get the spark plug details?
my elites owners manual has spark plug size in the back that only work so-so but they also have listed for ''high speed riding use NGK-'spark plug number' "witch works allot better

I couldn't get the hi speed plug locally so it is just the regular one the manual recommends. I'm loath to pull the carb apart unless I must, if flooding is a sign of a dirty carb, then that is what I will do. On the Honda CT90 site someone said that 90% of carb problems are electrical, which tends to be true for them. I think I will print off your link and go and try some the other plugs.
In the mean time, if anyone has more advice it is graciously accepted

got it going but Still having problems
Well after just about wanting to shoot the thing, a friend mentioned pulling the plug, taking a bbq lighter to burn out the flooded cylinder, then taking a torch and heating the spark plug to cherry red (I couldn't bring myself to do that but did get it hot) put the plug back in, close the air intake with a cloth. I'm thinking you are nuts, but what the he!!. Well the thing started, smoked like you wouldn't believe, once it warmed up I adjusted the carb, she was running sweet. I let it run for 10 minutes and shut it off, tried starting it again and no problems. Then I left it for 2 minutes and same as before, she will not start.
Is this the point at where you shoot the bloody thing and put it out of its misery, or is there hope?
It is way too hot here I'm going to sit in the shade and have a beer, and read the manual.
All ideas appreciated

After doing that to the plug, swap in a new one and see if it'll start.

Well I seem to have it going. It will still flood if I'm not careful. This the procedure that seems to work is, crank it over a couple of times, put your hand over the air box opening and give it another go and she is off.
Not sure if this is the right or wrong conclusion, but it hadn't run for awhile things were a little dry so lower compression??
Fuel was getting there but not burning so flooding
the auto choke is not working.
Now I've had no time to check it out, but Hopefully the autochoke is something I can repair
Noise guy heating the old plug worked and once a new plug work and once it didn't, I didn't try heating that one but put the old (new) one back in. Now I seem to be getting it to start, but it is something I guess one can always try.
