Thats a good question , you never hear about the CDI as being a upgrade for these scoots. I would imagine if the clip fits it would be worth a try?

Well I shot the seller a question and here was the reply

Hi, yes this CDI will work on the spree. because the spree does not have the rev potential that other honda scooters have (elite, aero, etc) the performance improvement will not be as dramatic on the spree.

But If I modded a spree to make it more rev freindly it would still be a gain no?

Cuz It seems i hit a revlimiter of sorts goin don hill (feels like the kill switch got fliped on) and then when it slows a little its like turning a light back on, (power returns)

new cdi

Post by malaka »

i purchased this cdi from ebay. i have a 86 honda spree, 800 original miles baffles drilled out. i didnt not notice any improvement what so ever. i weigh 300 lbs and my scoot does about 31-32 and with this i didnt gain a thing. although it was a hard start when i first installed, now it seems to be fine, the only differcne i have noticed is that the sccot seems to run a bit smoother, less probs at idle, maybe a touch more take off. next im going to do a clutch weight and spring mod.

maybe an adjustable one would do better?
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

no rpm gain

Post by malaka »

i didnt get any noticable rpm gain on my spree, my mechanic friend said it may be different on a elite/dio. it may also help that yours is a bit more rev friendly with the pipe and porting.
