so i was drilling the baffles out of the muffler on my 89 elite today. i made it through the first baffle fine, then got to the second baffle, and the drill bit got stuck and snapped off. so i now have about 3" of drill bit in my muffler in between the two baffles.
i put it back on the scoot and it runs great (2 mph gain). i can't think of any problems the bit tip in the muffler may cause, can anyone?

ok then you were feeding it too fast so it made a dirty cut jammed up and snapped. What sort of drill were you using? a bit that big usually doesnt snap from the power of a hand drill. I sill say the bit was defective unless you were using a monterous drill.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

no monsterous drill, a 12 volt dewalt cordless. i think it could have been from me feeding the bit too fast. it went through the first baffle so easily that i just assumed the second would go the same way.
but i've put about 30 miles on it with the bit still rollin' around inside and it hasn't caused any problems.
