Went from great to sh*t in a day
I have been riding my spree about 17 miles round trip to work for the last few weeks and everthing has been great. Starts first kick/push button 30-32 on the flats 25 on hills... This morning I went to start it and no problem, but it would not go over 5- 15 MPH. It even died, but started right up. Tonight I let it run a little while and it got going fine, then died and bogged out. Died w throttle or load. I could get it to 5 then 15 and if I let it run it would get to 25 MPH+, but that was inconsistent. BAD Gas? I changed the plug, but maybe more? Help. I have read many posts, but I am lost. Read the service manual, but I am lost
It's fun, so what!

The plug was brown, but it's dirty in that little hole. Is it suppose to be? I mean oily dirty. It still fires up every single time. I am going to clean the carb on my day off, but waht else could it be? Today, I fired it up let it warm up and it took off fine.... for about 1/4 mile then it bogged out and died at full throttle. HELP. It still starts up fine and will rev on the stand...

Did you check the coil resistance? Also, make sure the resistor plug cap is ok.Mine became loose internally and is no goo.I still have the same problem.Sounds like you may be running rich.Did you try moving your needle clip on the main up a notch ot two to see if it helps. This will lan the fuel out.Worth a try and not hard to do.

Today I took apart the carb and cleaned it out with air and carb cleaner. I tested the bystarter and moved the needle clip to lean it out a little. I tell ya putting the throttle cable back on correctly was a pain until read the tech docs again. Duh! Anyway it seems to be running much better. No bogging down, but it smokes a lot. I think it has to do with the Castrol 2 cycle oil I use. Bad idea. how do you drain that mess? Also, there is a weird noise in the case that the belt is in. Do I have to drain oil to inspect? Thanks for you help joeweir1.

I think I got mine fixed today!I decided to break down and get new reed valve assy. and gaskets $30.00.Put it on and let it warm up for a few minutes since it only bogged out after it got warm. Now I'm popping wheely's and flying around the yard and seems to have lots of power.I'll keep my fingers crossed. Not many people thought it was the reeds, but acouple on this site thought it might be.
