Reed valves did it!!!!!
Well, after this scooter was kicking my tail and I could not figure the loss of power under load, I believe the scooter is fixed!!I went thru the entire scooter and rechecked everything more than twice and was at a loss.I pulled the reeds at the time but did not really think that was my problem, even though there was a very, very small gap in one of the reeds.Almost too small to see with the naked eye.I even used a magnifier to look at it.Had many people think it was the bystarter or the air filter or a air leak or a clogged muffler.I guess they can cause similar problems. But after putting in the reed assy. the scooter has plenty of power after it warms and does not bogg out any more to this point. Thanks again.Hope it keeps running!!!!!Joe

Reed valve my problem too?
I rode my Spree to work yesterday....I'm getting 15mph uphill (better than the 3 I was getting...) but can't make it to more than 17mph flat.
Going to work, it sucked the tank dry!
So on my way home, I stopped, reset the carb screws (can't remember which one does what...) as the Honda mechanic said I'd probably have to open them wider than 1 3/4 turns...I set them back at 1 1/2.
Barely budged the gauge needle! But still can't do more than 15-17 mph.
The motorcycle cop who pulled me over was surprised I drove it to work...
"It was fine this morning....but now it's barely making 17 with teh throttle wide open!" He told me "Please don't do this again until you can make and keep 30ish...don't worry...(as he opened his saddlebag) I'm not going to give you a ticket...I gonna have a smoke while you tweak that thing."
He even let me use his flashlight...
But seriously...could it be the reeds?
As for parts- I found this link:

I'm gonna try them as they are better than my local parts guys.

If your sure the belt or clutch is ok then there is a good chance it is the reeds. My scooter would have power the first few minutes it started but when it warmed it lost power.Does yours do this.Easy way to check is just start and let warm up on the stand then after a few minuteshold back brake on and give it throttle adn see if it will bog out at all or stall. How many miles are on it?The Aero I have has 1400 on it and the reeds were bad.If I showed you them you would not think they were. The gap in them was so small it was hard to see with the naked eye.I even used a magnifying glass to get a good look. One reed felt weaker than the other also.I really did not think this was my problem.I spent acouple weeks tearing into the scooter doing about everything I could think of and re-did some tests and got fed-up.Decided to get the reeds and gaskets and it fixed it!!!!!!

Miles?
3634 miles. I do have a new belt, haven't put it on yet...should I just go ahead and be proactive?
The Motogrid has the reed valves for $24.95
Mileage improved somewhat...only used 1/3rd of a tank got the 6 miles home...
Better than the full tank on my 5 miles to work...
At this point....it sucks....

I'm pretty sure since I tried to figure the thing out myself and THEN fond this forum, my reed valves have d*** near 1/8 inch gap in them. THAT would probably explain why I had to use the battery charger on Quick Kick mode (200 or more amps) to spin the engine oooober fast and only then would it start and run great... till the oil pump quit working. Thenn my Spree-ing days have been over since, untill next week when cheapcycleparts.com delivers my parts
